After leading Valencia to safety last season, Rubén Baraja has put Los Che firmly in the hunt for European football.
Prior to his appointment as Valencia boss in February last year, Rubén Baraja had worked in five managerial roles with minimal success. The 48-year-old failed to reach the one-year mark in any of his previous spells with Elche, Rayo Vallecano, Sporting Gijón, Tenerife and Real Zaragoza. So when he accepted the chance to succeed Gennaro Gattuso, there were questions asked about whether his status as a club legend would be enough to prosper under difficult circumstances.
