The Women’s Champions League returns next week with holders Barcelona and their rivals Real Madrid flying the flag for Spain in this year’s competition.

We’ll have more on Barca’s group stage opposition in an article next week, but today the focus is on Los Blancos and their opponents.

After finishing as Liga F runners up, Real had to go through qualifying to reach the group stages, beating Sporting Lisbon 5-2 on aggregate over two legs.

In last week’s draw they were paired with familiar foes Chelsea as well as Champions League debutants Celtic and Dutch side FC Twente.
