A tale of two sackings: The inevitable and the surprise
Luis Carrión’s dismissal as Las Palmas boss in October remained LaLiga’s only managerial sacking of the season until matchday 15. However, Carrión will not feel quite as lonely as he did last week after two clubs decided to pull the trigger following their respective games at the weekend. Real Valladolid opted to part ways with Paulo Pezzolano in a move that felt like it was only a matter of time. But while there was little surprise about Pezzolano’s departure, a considerable step back was required when Deportivo Alavés announced the decision to move on from Luis García Plaza. Two relegation-threatened clubs evidently felt it was time for a change, but one sacking seems far more justified than the other.
