A bump in the road or do Spain need serious improvement ahead of Euro 2025?
World Cup winners Spain were beaten 1-0 by reigning European champions England at Wembley last week.
It’s fair to say the February international break was not the best for Spain on and off the pitch.
The legal conclusion to the Luis Rubiales scandal was the backdrop of both games against Belgium and England and whilst his conviction for sexual assault for the kiss on Jenni Hermoso after the World Cup final was a welcome verdict, the reaction of head coach Montse Tome was not as well received.
Spain showed great character to come from behind and beat Belgium with two injury-time goals the day after the trial in which multiple players gave evidence at, had concluded.
They couldn’t, however, do the same against an England side that finally, once again looked like Euro 2022 winners.
